Psychotherapy with soul

“The doors to the world of the wild Self are few but precious. If you have a deep scar, that is a door; if you have an old, old story, that is a door. If you love the sky and the water so much you almost cannot bear it, that is a door. If you yearn for a deeper life, a full life, a sane life, that is a door.”

― CLARISSA PINKOLA ESTÉS

What brings you here?

Many different life circumstances may bring you to a therapist’s door. And, ultimately, therapy invites you to explore your inner doorways.

Are you looking to recover from the wounds of narcissistic abuse and codependency and forge happier, healthier relationships? Welcome.

Or do you need support for having a loved one with serious mental illness (SMI)? Welcome.

Or maybe you’re yearning for a life with more soul—where you know how to tap into the wisdom of your body, creativity, and spirit? Welcome.

Come inside, make yourself a steaming cup of tea, and let’s embark on your healing journey.

I currently offer 50-minute psychotherapy sessions online throughout the state of California. The work that I do looks unique for each person—it's definitely not a “paint-by-numbers” approach.

Instead, I see therapy as a sort of apothecary, where we might decide to add few drops of one modality, such as talk therapy, and a few drops of another, such as expressive arts. (Click here to listen to a podcast to find out more about how I combine different modalities to provide psychotherapy with soul.)

Ultimately, we’ll work collaboratively to determine the pace, timing, and amount of each modality. Read on to find out more about my specific areas of focus and the exact approaches I use in helping people to live happier, healthier, and more fulfilling lives.

Open the door to greater possibilities in your life

Why “lapis”?

The lapis is a striking semiprecious stone with deep history. Vivid blue and scattered with gold-like flecks, it was revered by the alchemists, who were medieval philosopher-chemists. They believed that lapis might be the philosopher’s stone, or the stone that turns lead into gold.

Taken as a metaphor, lapis can be seen as the substance within us that can transform the lead of our lives into gold. Through inner work, in the crucible of a respectful and trusting relationship, our hardships, wounds, and “stuck” places can be transformed.

Our pain can become a source of strength, understanding, greater vitality, and compassion for self and others. And our inner radiance that was there all along can shine brighter into the world, now unencumbered.

“We know the heart is the philosopher’s stone.”
